That Summer Body
A summer body is the ideal body you wish to obtain to show off that new bikini, or for the guys those ripped abs and chest. First let’s get rid of the term “Summer Body” once and for all. Sure we wear less clothes during skin season. With all the BBQ’s, patio brunches, vacations and beach parties ahead you want to look good. Why not develop a year long mindset of working out at least 30 minutes per day. Even if it’s just a brisk walk around the block in your neighborhood or local park. Gym memberships can be expensive, but the great outdoors is free. Get with a friend, mate or accountability partner and start a new fitness journey together.
The idea of pressuring oneself to look a certain way for a certain season and that season alone is preposterous. Fall, winter and spring still exist! And referring to your physical self as a summer body is a horrible mindset. Why not keep that body past September 22nd (the last day of summer). Don’t put an expiration date on you “Summer Body”!
The most essential part of obtaining and keeping that ideal body is a healthy diet.
It protects you against many chronic non communicable diseases, such as heart diseases, cancer and diabetes. Eating a variety of foods and consuming less salt, a variety of foods, sugars and saturated industrially produced trans-fats are essential for a healthy diet. You can’t out work a bad diet no matter how much you workout.
The last key is water. It’s common to hear that water is essential for your health. But why? This substance makes up a majority of your body weight and is involved in many important functions including the following:
* Flushing out waste
* Regulating body temperature
* Helping your brain function
In general, you should try to drink between half an ounce and one ounce of water for each pound you weigh, every day. For example if you weigh 150 pounds, that would be 75 to 150 ounces of water per day. So drink up! Get moving! And eat healthier. And keep that “Summer Body” year round!
